6/24/2016

Hello guys.

Damn, it's been a while hasn't it?

Last year at some point was my last blog entry, and a LOT has gone on.

Currently, I am in the Public Test Realm for World of Warcraft.  I have been testing out the pre-Legion launch content and it's shaping up to be pretty damned good.  I still have a few minor concerns about Legion.  Personally, it's personal preference stuff having to deal with the Artifact weapon. Blizzard has made it abundantly clear that we are ONLY getting the artifact weapon as our go-to item.  That's mainly the issue I have been having with it.  Since I am currently not in the Beta, I cannot test the Artifact weapon out and discuss with you guys fairly my views on it.  Currently though...it has a lot of potential.  I'm trying to give Blizz the benefit of the doubt as a long-time WoWer.  I'm currently playing through level 100 content on the PTR and attempting to get a good feel for most of the classes and spec changes that are coming in Legion.  I'm looking forward to a few very specific classes and specs.  So far what's won me over mainly are the changes to the Warlock class.   I'm still learning Affliction but I'm happy to report that Seed of Corruption will be a thing again.  The main spec that has impressed me TONS as a Lock player...Demonology spec.  The spec has had a major overhaul and improvement.  Currently in live, Demo Locks are one of the completely weakest specs in-game.  It -NEEDS- a tremendous overhaul.

I believe Blizzard did a great job with most of the spec changes.

In my last blog post I did a comparison of SWTOR content and WoW content as it stands currently.

In my opinion, SWTOR has the better core story and questing pack.

Blizzard needs to greatly improve the basic quest pack and I am hoping for Legion they will do -just- that.  I've been gathering my thoughts as I've done PTR and I think that many of the system changes that are coming are very interesting.  For example, combat flows more smoothly, enemies are much more challenging, and there have been a number of quality of life improvements.  The main big one for me was the boss creature system overhaul.  Before, you would have to compete against other players (Poor choice of game design here) to get tags on boss mobs.  AND mobs in general.  Tagging mob creatures in itself is currently fine.  But, they instanced the boss and named creatures in the world of Azeroth which has been a MUCH needed change.  I'm currently hoping they implement the proposed zone-scaling "technology" to all zones in game and allow us the choice to explore zones in any order.  Many other games currently do this, including Gild Wars 2 and SWTOR.

I think that Legion has -tremendous- potential if everything proposed is executed correctly.

I have been playing World of Warcraft more or less since around the launch of Burning Crusade.  I missed "Vanilla/Legacy" WoW by a few weeks.  My main current concerns are like this.  If the Artifact Weapon is our ONLY weapon we get in the WHOLE entirety of the expac's life...what happens during the next expac? I mean whatever comes -after- Legion? Blizzard historically makes system wide changes to the game when an expac goes live and updates content across the board.  I personally have never been a fan of the whole ONE weapon thing.  I've always been a firm believer of choice...especially in the games I choose to spend time/real money playing.   I'm fine with the Legendary Item changes that are coming...it's going to be -interesting- to see a live version of those proposed changes in the live game.  My other concerns are minor ones including what's going to happen with Draenor? Not everybody has Legion yet, and I'm sincerely -hoping- that the Garrison (Your base on Draenor for those of us not in the know) system remains more or less intact.  I'm frankly VERY VERY bothered that Blizzard intends to remove the Treasure Hunter missions/Treasure Hunter trait from the game across the board.  I personally do not like that change for many reasons.  I'm a pretty consistent farmer and I like having options to maximize my gold count...and I was using the Treasure Hunter missions for a long time.  I'll be using them until they are removed from the game.  My main concern is I HOPE we get something good to replace the current system.

Now, focusing on the positive changes.

I think that the challenge level to the game (Overall) has been greatly increased.  I'm very VERY happy with this change.  I'm not sure how the change will affect zones like Tanaan Jungle.  But...I am hoping the changes will be a positive one.  I'm not someone who does many Dungeons, and I HATE Raids/LFR.  I think (Most/not all) Raiders, the "Hardcore" ones have seriously hurt the game since Blizzard historically caters to them.  Me personally, I enjoy playing the game on my own, or with good buddies.  Further, I tend to help people out I come across which makes WoW (And MMO's in general) a much richer experience for me.  Since I been doing PTR, I have tested Monk, Rogue, Warrior, Warlock, Paladin and Druid.  I like most of the content and I -currently- have a level 100 Pally and Druid.  I have to see the Paladin Tank in action to make up my own mind about the proposed changes.  But so far...it looks promising.

Very soon I'm gonna be testing the Shaman and several other classes.

I'm basically trying to get a good feel for all of the new specs.

Aside from all this, I have been playing SWTOR and Guild Wars 2 TONS.  In SWTOR I maxed out several more characters, including an Imperial Agent.  (Damn, what a great story that is!) and I'm currently working towards my Legendary status in-game.  I recently reinstalled Guild Wars 2 and found out they fixed the game.  It now works on my computer (Which is an older custom tower) after they patched out whatever errors I was experiencing from before.  (The game literally started crashing every few minutes.)  So next week, I intend to buy the expac for Guild Wars 2.  I already have the SWTOR expac.

On other news, I recently saw XMen Apocalypse with my siblings and I really enjoyed the flick.

I feel they did a great job with the movie, and it was nice seeing some of the people back in action.  (Jubilee, Quicksilver and some others come to mind)

I have also been writing and drawing a lot, I will be posting information about that stuff on the follow up to this post.

But for now, this is so I can touch base with you guys.

Hope you guys still are checking my blog out and enjoy my content, I'm (In the near future) gonna start posting youtube content.   I'm not entirely sure WHAT I'm gonna do with that just yet.  But it's in the works, and I'll keep you guys posted on it.  Anywhens, that's it from me for now.  I'll be posting in this blog more often as I get my act together.  Anyway gang, thanks for checking out my little corner of the interwebs.  As always...stay cool.

4/29/2015

Hello everyone, it has been some time hasn't it?

Things have been pretty busy on my end and I haven't had the inspiration to properly upkeep my blog until today.  Lately I have been taking care of a few personal matters and have gotten more and more into MMO's.  Of late, I got really into SWTOR.  (Star Wars The Old Republic) I've played SWTOR on and off since The Hutt Cartel expac.  I've got both expacs now (Hutt and Revan's expac) and much of the digital update content.

After spending many years playing WoW I can honestly give some constructive feedback on SWTOR and WoW.

Before I begin though, a few points.

1) I don't believe in censorship and I WILL swear a lot.

2) I should fairly point out that I think WoW is a GOOD not a GREAT game.  It ONCE was a great game but no longer is one.  I will state my views on this later.

3) After playing SWTOR for a long time now (And almost have my first level 60, max level character!!!) I can honestly say that SWTOR has the superior quest pack and better presented story telling package overall.

Now, on to the point of this post.

I wanna start this piece by saying that this is MY own opinion.  I'm not trying to hate on Blizzard or Bioware, I'm trying to simply get a few things off my chest.  The key thing being that I believe both WoW and SWTOR are fantastic games.  They both have strong points and weak points.  And after I've played SWTOR for the length of time that I've played it, I can honestly point out one key flaw that WoW has.  It's not the economy (Which I will get into), it's not any specific expac, it's not the PVP (Which in my opinion is VERY broken) and it's not all the grief players that log on Trade Chat every day just to make us sane (Or insane) cats lives' miserable.

My BIGGEST problem with WoW as a whole is something that Blizz could have fixed during The Mists of Pandaria expac.  Instead, they fell into a HUGE trap of pandering to "end-game" content and NEGLECTING the rest of the game.  There's an entire world on Azeroth that has decent content that has almost never been overhauled.  In fact, some of the zones quest mechanics are virtually identical to their Burning Crusade counterparts.  This is a HUGE problem.  One of the biggest complaints I hear about when I encounter fellow WoWers (And this is something I share with them) is how BORING and uninspired the quest pack for WoW actually is.

You mean to fucking tell me that the best you can do ALL the way until you get to (Basically) Outlands level at sixty is fetch and kill quests? Blizzard really? For 100 levels you have us doing the same basic quest over and over.  No wonder people are upset with the game developers and the current product as it exists.

Now, I am someone who keeps a pretty neutral stance on a lot of these matters.  But my OWN personal issue with WoW isn't actually the boring/repetitive quest pack.  It's the fact that the quest pack is dated.  Most zones got merely COSMETIC changes during the Cataclysm expac.  During Wrath of the Lich King, some zones also got minor changes.  And that's literally been it.  The quest pack has basically been the same quest pack since Nilla WoW and it will likely NEVER change.

That's my biggest problem/concern with WOW.  After getting my main character to level 100 and playing through much of Draenor's content, I was not impressed.  I liked SOME of the quest(s) and what not but I didn't feel drawn into the world of Draenor.  I think blizzard was so caught up in the garrisons that it missed the key element.

Now here is my favorite aspect of Draenor.  I play BOTH Horde and Alliance, but on different servers and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing Thrall back in action.  There were tons of NPC's showing up that I had SOME familiarity with since I played basically as far back as Nilla WoW and Burning Crusade expac.  Khadgar being one of the most notable of these NPC's.  I enjoyed the Tanaan Jungle content a lot and thought it was an awesome quest chain right up to where you initially first get your Garrisons base.

My main favorite aspect of Draenor is the fact that your deeds ACTUALLY get acknowledge.  No longer are you an obscure figure doing deeds in the shadows.  Instead, you are a mighty Commander who people refer to as a Hero.  THAT alone is well worth the price of admission for Draenor after we've done all this shit to get to Draenor in the first place.  90 levels, many expacs, several zones across Azeroth and countless dungeon runs and PVP headaches.  You start Draenor at about level 90 and then work your way up to level 100, the new cap.

AFTER the Tanaan Jungle quest chain is over it's back to business as usual with the same old quest pack mechanics.  Nothing TERRIBLY new was added with the quest interface in Draenor at all.

THAT is my hugest problem with WoW.

Now conversely, let's take a look at SWTOR.

Here you have an actually VIBRANT setting and lore set in a KNOWN universe/reality.  The character(s) in this universe all have their own agenda and all have their own motivation(s) or lack thereof.  Star Wars Expanded Universe lore is amazing in it's own right.  In my OWN opinion far superior to Star Wars movielore.  But that's an opinion piece for another discussion.  Tonight, we're discussing comparisons between SWTOR and WoW.  Now the biggest thing I will talk about with SWTOR tonight is the quest pack and PRESENTATION of the quest pack.

Swtor has an immersive quality that sucks you right in from the first moment you watch your introductory movie and get right into your chosen Class quests.  SWTOR presents to you a large variety of sometimes difficult situations and presents you with choices as to what you will DO with said situations.  These choices can either be POSITIVE or Negative.  (Light Side/Dark Side of The Force) and grant you points based on the situation.  The responses alone for some of these choices are PRICELESS.  SWTOR goes out of it's way to present a much more mature quest package with varying themes of survival, conquest and mystery.

You start off as the lowly level 1 character you first make and end up going all the way to end-game, level 60 (Revan) content.  I think the fact that bioware CARED about it's quest pack says a huge deal about the presentation of SWTOR  And I feel this is the key different that will SECURE SWTOR's long-term survival against WoW's.

For WoW to survive another TEN years of life, Blizz MUST overhaul the presentation of the quest package.  I think that will be VITAL to WoW's survival.

In any event I know I have given you guys a LOT to think about.  I tried to be fair and neutral as I possibly could.  Any feedback from you guys is always appreciated.

Stay classy, WORLD.

1.19.2015

Okay as promised, here is my Monday post.

Today in the United States is Martin Luther King Day.  For us "minority" folks it is an important day of reflection and of understanding of our civil rights.  Our forefathers fought and died for our civil rights so that we could all get to a point where there is SOME sort of a peaceful co-existence between everybody.  I think that as long as our world leaders strive for some SORT of a world peace eventually we will all be able to tolerate each other long enough to live peacefully together.  Today is a sobering day for me as I think back to the recent crimes of police brutality, violence in other parts of the world, wars going on everywhere, and that sort of stuff.  It saddens me that people let religion dictate their world view, and not logic or something as simple as love.  I think that if we all embraced one another the world would be a better place for everybody, especially our unborn generations.  I wouldn't want MY own kids (Whenever/IF) I have them to live in the strife and turmoil of today.  Constantly worried about bullies, cops, and other crazy shit like that.  It's a pretty intense thing to think about but I think we NEED to start the conversation.

The recent events with out of control cops really concerns me.

I'm someone who has dealt with a lot of bullyism in my life, to the point where I had to learn how to defend myself and fight back.  I don't want anybody to go through what I went through.  I think schooling years should be a time period of reflection, knowledge and the pursuit of knowledge.  Somehow our society has lost sight of what is important.  Our kids.  We gotta get back to raising them properly, how our generation was raise with some fucking backbone and character.  This whole need that society has shoved down everybody's throats to like "fit in" has ruined a whole generation of these crazy kids.  These kids are out of control, failing school sooner, dropping out sooner, and more terrifyingly, having kids sooner and sooner.  It seems like instead of wanting to work hard for an honest pay check, they want the free pass at life.  So they behave in these out of control behaviors, and act out in ways THEY think is right.  Remember folks, all it takes is the one mistake and soon your kids are having kids at fifteen.  I think this needs to stop and parents need to take a bigger responsibility for the next generation.

Remember folks, these are our "future world leaders".

Do you want our kids to have substance and morality, or continue to swirl in an out of control path to destruction? Now don't read this the wrong way everyone.  I'm not saying ALL families have out of control kids.  I'm saying that ENOUGH do that IT IS a major problem.

Here are some facts:

Alarming Children Statistics

Child Obesity

And I can find so many DETAILED statistical data on this situation.  Now I'm not one to judge, but I am saying we, as a society, need to change our ways.  Our future as a RACE depends on this.  I think that people who look for short-term answers are only hurting our society more.  I am just rambling on my thoughts about this matter here, and posting this on a day where a great man had a vision where we could all live together in peace and harmony.  I will post my updates on my current works NEXT week.  But this week I wanted to reflect on the troubles of the world, and the troubles of society.  We HAVE to take responsibility for our own bullshit if we expect our kids to be raised up in any genuinely GOOD way.  Anyway, I hope that everyone's holiday is going very well.  I'm gonna stop this week's post right about here.  I'll add things as I come up with it, or people start to drop posts and commentary on my works.

Anyway everyone as always,
Stay classy, WORLD,

1.12.2015

OKAY!

Here the fuck we go.

All right ladies and gentlemen, I am going to start making Monday(s) my regular blog posting day.  And this week I'm going to start by posting a series of new drawings.  THREE as a matter of fact.  I have been very busy with my personal writings and my personal drawings.  I am currently working very hard to perfect my figure drawing, gesture drawing and anatomy skills.  I want to lock in all of the basic skills of an artist.  I'll get to more advanced techniques as I go.  However, the main focus is acquiring knowledge, and turning that knowledge into skill.  Tonight I have been studying my anatomy a lot as well as my figure drawing.  I also started working on my pens again, and I am extensively studying Frank Miller's inking style.  I think he is an incredible artist in his own right, and I rather enjoy his noir rendering style.  Today has been a busy day for me.  I have decided to set up Mondays as my primary posting day for MAJOR blogs.  But for the rest of the week, I will post my studies and creations as I come up with them.  The major focuses will be my writings on Althanas which will be done in a post of the day sort of fashion.  And my drawing adventures in general.  Which will be done in sketches of the day format.  Right now I am simply a student of art who loves to draw CONSTANTLY and I am trying to make a name for myself.  That is the very purpose of this blog, me getting my name out into the universe, and going from lukewarm to HOT.

Okay so without further ado, here is this particular session of work.  But before we get into that, soon I am going to invest in proper video recording equipment for my computer.  I intend to post up entire drawing sessions which may feature commentary from myself.  That stuff will get posted on Youtube when the time comes.  For now, I am simply focused on making this blog the best blog -I- can personally make it.  For that I will need all of your guys help.  Viewing my work, offering kind critiques, and giving me sound advice.  I want to become as awesome an artist as some of my favorite artists have become.  Eventually I am going to start SELLING my art, but that will be provided later on once I feel a lot more confident.  Anyway let's get on with the show.

Drawings of the hour-

1-~Sketch 1~

2-~Sketch 2~

3-~Sketch 3~

The third sketch in that series is somewhat older, but I am particularly proud of one of the faces that is that page.  The other two drawings were done today, as of this post.  As I come up with more sketches and art, I will post them on here and on D/A so that the WORLD can see my crazy ass imagination.  I just want people to see my art.  As many people as possible, THE WORLD, NO the UNIVERSE even.  When aliens come down and see our culture, I want them to go: "Damn that dude, Pavel Vargas, is an AMAZING damned artist.  Thats's what I want.  But I want stop until I have become one of the most WELL KNOWN artists on the net! And you guys will help me get there.  Keep coming back, keep checking out my work, and start dropping tons of comments.  What I intend to do is for the rest of the week, I will start posting reply stacks on this particular blog post.  THEN, next week, (Monday) there will be an entirely new blog.  So I will keep the sequence going like that.  Now then gang, the following that I am going to post is the writings I've done this weekend and in the past few weeks.  I sincerely hope you guys will enjoy it all.

Writings of the hour-(My writing is generally done on the roleplaying forum known as Althanas)

1-~Beginnings~

2-~Eiskalt and TTC~

3-~Chronicles of Elthas~

4-~Forral's Fortess~

5-~Elthas Belthasar Level 4~

And there you have it folks.  That's this week's Monday blog post.  As I complete more stuff, I will link my progress reports on THIS particular blog post, so that everything stays organized.  Remember, Monday will be my REGULAR blogging day in which I will start posting an entirely new Blog post for that week.  Until then, feel free to drop me kind comments, critiques, and reviews of my work.  All comments will be appreciate it, just keep it clean and keep it classy.  Rude, or hateful comments will be deleted on the spot.  Come proper and true! Anyway that's it from me today gang!

As always gang,
Stay Classy, WORLD!

12.23.2014

(I had to make a minor edit hahah.)

Hey guys,

I have recently talked about the steps I am taking to overhaul my blog.  And maybe even my own life.  As some of you out there know, I have a lot of  problems that I deal with constantly.  I am on medication and I have been going to my weekly therapy sessions.  My problems are a constant demon I have to struggle with.  However, I have been getting better at micro managing my situation as a whole.  I have been writing and drawing a lot of late.  I will be posting my current projects shortly.  But I do have some things I need to get off my chest.

Firstly,

I strongly feel that I have been making a lot of progress of late.  I recently found out that the amount I get for S.S.I. will be increased considerably starting in January.  That is very good news, and I have been fighting with the SNAP people to get my benefits card.  I still don't got that thing in my possession yet.  Once I do things will be a BIT better for me.  I will have more finances to manage and better options for a lot more things to make my life feel more fulfilled.  I am a struggling artist as many of you know.  I try really hard to maintain a positive attitude about everything, and also, I try to get my work done as often as possible.  None of this "when inspiration hits me crap."  As an artist, I have learned that you make YOUR OWN inspiration possible.  This may sound harsh to some of you, but let's be real.  If you're on a deadline you CANNOT wait for inspiration.  You have to FORCE that shit out of you.  You have to keep yourself to a very healthy work ethics if you want to succeed in life.  Many of you guys will not agree with me but all I can do is offer advice to any who will listen.  Even if my words fall on deaf ears.

I will keep on talking, and keep walking the walk so that MAYBE my words can help somebody else out there.  Somebody whose also feeling desperate and confused, and out of options.  Things will get better for you, I PROMISE YOU that.  I have been at the bottom most rung of things for a long ass time now.  For as long as I can remember I have dealt with my shitty problems, but now I have come to a conclusion.  I can only ONLY get better if I MAKE myself get better.  If I really try to change my situation around me, the people around me...and ultimately THE WORLD AROUND ME.  I always hear people talking about how they can't effect change in the world.  To this I say: YOU ARE WRONG.  Even the smallest stone can create a ripple effect when thrown in the water.  All of us together can change things.  Even now.  There are those out in the world who would destroy our way of life out of ignorance, prejudice and fear.  To these cowards I challenge you all.  Shun the darkness in your hearts and look to the light.

If you look at many of the troubles in the world: Isis, Al Qaeda, and the many spin off organizations, what do they have in common? They hate everybody who is different from their closed minded world views.  I hate that Muslims are blamed because of lunatics that are in Al Qaeda and Isis.  I will be one of the bold and the brave and LOUDLY say this: ISLAM is a religion of love and peace.  True Islam does not teach hate.  What little I know of Islam has drastically changed my world view and my religious outlook.  And of life itself.  Now I'm by no means a Muslim.  However, I sympathize with the average Muslim man on the streets who just trying to protect and feed his family.  Isis and Al Qaeda are a bunch of cowards.  Instead of offering a peaceful resolution to the troubles of the world, they take up arms against an IDEAL, no A WAY OF LIFE.  I have taken a lot of things in my life for granted despite the fact I am someone who has a lot of psychological issues.  But I understand, my life could end (As well as ALL of our lives) at any point it is up to GOD not Isis and Al Qaeda to decide.  Isis and Al Qaeda have one thing in common: they function by instilling fear in those that cannot defend themselves.

If more of us embraced our fellow man and woman, and those in between, then Al Qaeda and Isis would not have a foothold.  This is likely going to offend a lot of people.  GOOD I say.  If I have offended someone, I have done my job.  I want folks to know that I AM NOT AFRAID.  I am a proud Hispanic American, and I am a Republican at that.  I have my values, I have my morales and I ma not afraid of a bunch of gun totting maniacs.  I hope that whoever is reading my blog, gets equally angry at the situation at hand.  Together, we can all embrace one another, and embrace the ideals that America and the rest of the world STAND FOR.  Equality, understanding, imagination, and FREEDOM.  Al Qaeda and Isis is NOT the answer.  Freedom is the answer.  The moment we give in to fear, is the moment that they win.  We cannot allow that to happen.  I am simply a fellow with a lot of problems of my own, but I am writing this because I am angry.  I am angry that our leaders have let us down, that they have not adequately defended our way of life.  Freedom is too precious, FAR too precious a thing to loose over a bunch of assholes like Al Qaeda and Isis.  I have rarely voice my own political views but I think it is time.  It is DAMNED time for all of us to band together and be ready for when Isis and Al Qaeda are BALSY enough to attempt to physically hurt us in America.  I think they are too coward for that though so they target people they think they can hurt because they currently don't have adequate defenders.  And too out leaders I say: defend the voiceless.  Take the fight to Isis and the remaining Al Qaeda forces.  Be the America that we were always meant to become.  A Nation that defends the innocent, and protects the values of Freedom and diversity.  Don't let Isis win.  We have to hold them and their off shoot factions KNOW that we will not tolerate religious persecution in our ages EVER.

In closing let me say this: If we embrace one another and stop trying to destroy/conquer one another factions like Al Qaeda and Isis will never have power over us ever again.  This is just my own opinion on the matter.  For all of you who will take the time to read this, thank you and God bless all of us.  Not just America.  But ALL of us.  Especially those of us who are suffering in silence.  You have not been forgotten.

As always,
Stay classy,
WORLD.

10.28.2014

Okay gang so here's the deal.

I came to the realization that I'm likely a hobbyist artist, and that's fine.

So what I've been working on is developing my writing skills so I can turn that into my pot of gold.

As a lot of you guys know, I roleplay constantly on a roleplaying community called Althanas.  This community has embraced my sometimes whacky ideas and I have become a well known member on the site.  I have lots of approved characters, (Alt's for those of you in the know) but focus on three very specific ones.  My three characters of choice are Elthas Belthasar, Lorenor, and Nosdyn Krotar.  I will be linking the respective profiles shortly.

Now there's the thing.  I am considering -STRONGLY- do a unique and persistent storyline in blog format based on either of these characters...OR...perhaps, an entirely new character and idea.  It depends on what my sometimes out there mind can come up with for this.  Now the idea is to make some sort of a profit off my ideas! Here's what I'll need from you guys.

Read my work.  Give me feedback, tell your friends about my work, so on and so forth.  The more exposure I can get to my writing (And also to Althanas) the better off everybody will be.  Now, I'm not an expert writer or anything of that nature.  I JUST have drive and a LOT of free time.  I think anybody with some spare time (Even an hour a day) just to write CAN write and SHOULD write.  It is lucrative, and ideas are so hot right now.  The industry in general is HURTING for original ideas as we are now seeing CONSTANT rehash after rehash, and remake after remake.  To the point where one wonders why they go to the movies or not.

Now I'm by far not an expert in any of this.

HOWEVER, I CAN say that if you have a unique idea...RUN with it.  Someone WILL take an interest if you market yourself correctly.  To the proper audience, develop a niche and all that good shit.  It takes time, but the rewards are well worth what you put into it.  I've been doing a lot of thinking the past few nights and came to the conclusion that I've been shooting myself in the foot.  Not literally of course, but metaphorically.  One of my old mentors told me that I should focus on my writing versus my art, and I have been fighting what I am meant to be.  And I believe what I am meant to be is a writer.  Discovering one's purpose in life is VERY important.

Sometimes we fight ourselves, sometimes it takes a while to get to this single epiphany.  But the important thing is YOU GET THERE.  All the other bullshit that life throws at us doesn't matter once you get to this point.  I've started to embrace what I am meant to become, I'm no longer scared.  So what I am going to start doing the next few days and weeks, is BLOGGING a LOT.  AND WRITING a lot.  For myself, for you guys, and for any other reason I can think of.  The time is now, tomorrow is not promised.

So this is just a post for me to catch up with anybody out there whose paying attention.  I love all you guys! Every hit, every critique, every amount of feedback helps.  That's what I need right now.  Once that all gets steam rolling we can form one tightly knit family together.  And I can hopefully see some dollar signs to my name and get out of my own personal challenging situation.  Once that happens, it will be all due to you guys.  To your support, feedback and constantly getting on my case, I will always be thankful.

Now...there is work to be done, and we got ourselves some rp to do.

As always everybody, GAME ON!

Stay classy, WORLD!

10.24.2014

Hey everyone!

It has been sometime since I wrote last.

Things in my life have been up and down of late, but now I have some interesting news to share with you all.  Me and my mom were living with a certain nice fellow for about a year and a half until he recently moved away to his own apartment.  We were both saddened by the fact that he left but he left on very good terms with us.  I still speak with him regularly and consider him a friend.  In short time we have ourselves our new roommate and he is also a brilliant fellow.  He's a savvy business guy and has considerable amounts of knowledge of the business side of several industries.  (I won't get into too many specific as I don't want to reveal who he is.  After all, I am entitled to my secrets you know.)

Tonight we had a nice and productive talk.

It's his birthday today, but we discussed ways that I could better my life.

In short, as many of you guys know, I am an artist.  I also write, I have a few ideas that I will start showcasing to start bettering my life.  I've been dealing with a few problems my whole life that will likely not go away.  However, I am strong willed and I roll with the punches that life throws my way.

What I might start doing in the next couple of nights is organizing my thoughts.

Further, I'm going to start organizing my sometimes chaotic ideas into one concrete idea.

Something I can profit off of and use to better my sometimes horrible situation.

During the talk that my roommate and I had, he helped sort of make me realize that I was looking at things ALL wrong.  I have two talents I can profit on RIGHT NOW that don't need a college education.  (Contrary to what some of you guys out there might think.)  My fields simply require a thirst for knowledge, and a desire to learn.  These two points, coupled with the basic resources provided by the interwebz, are more than enough to bolster the starving artist.

I realize of late that I've been looking at life all wrong.

I intend to change that.

With a few fundamental changes in my outlook and world view, I realized that I -CAN- make a difference to the lives of those folks who are around me that I care about.  Either directly or indirectly.   I just want my life to have some meaning.  I have squandered a lot of time trying to get to this point, and now the hour has come to roll up my sleeves and get some  hard work done.  There are plenty of resources available to me to allow me to achieve my dreams of being a successful artist, and they are available to every one of my readers as well.  But first, I gotta make some magic happen.

That's gonna be the key right there.

I'll need some help from you whoever reads my blog, of course, but that will come in due time.  At first, we're going to go through this journey together.   Then, we'll continue to walk together as we all discover the very meanings of our lives.  In my case though, I am a simple man looking for simple things out of life.  I want to be able to get off S.S.I. and I want to be able to produce my own fortune, and take care of my family better.  The case in point is that I want to PRODUCE.  I've been on S.S.I. for a long time now, and I feel it is time to make the integration back into the work force.  But on MY own terms, not anybody else.  This is all a step by step transformation that will not happen overnight, but at the very least I am taking steps in the right direction.

Nobody knows that I am taking these steps except, you guys out there, my roommate and God.  I want to sit back someday, years from now, and smile back as I think that THIS was the first night I took the steps forward to a better tomorrow.  If my miracle can happen to me, it can to you all out there as well.  The trick is NOT to miss it when it does occur.

Anyway gang, I've taken up enough of your time.  I hope that this small message cheers up anybody who needs a smile right now, uplifts a lost soul, or otherwise provides a positive message.  I think that if we all look out for each other more, the world, THE WORLD, will become a better place for us all.  Especially ourselves.  Too often we become our own worst enemies.  But I digress, this is my attempt at some sort of a message of productivity and constructive thoughts.  For those of you out there who are suffering this or that situation, remember, THERE IS a brighter tomorrow.  There IS a light at the end of the tunnel, and there IS a reason to keep on keepin' on.

With that, I want to wish everyone love and light.
Stay, classy, WORLD,

Status Report...

Hello everyone,

I realize it has been some time since I have checked in with you guys.

It's all right I am going to be more frequent about my blogging.  One friend of mine suggested that I start blogging more often about personal things I'm into. As some of you out there know, I'm a big gamer, and I am also into writing and drawing.  I haven't been drawing as much as I should be of late, but I have found a love and passion for writing.  I write basically everyday now, trying to knock out a few thousand words daily.  I still haven't started -MY OWN- personal novel project yet except for the novel production notes.  It's stalled, but moving along at an even pace.  Once I get cooking on it, I should be able to get more of it done as I go.   My novel idea is based on some characters and a world I made up.  Hoping to become the next Tolkien of our generation in the process.  Lately I have been working out of my Althanas site a lot, and ALSO I recently rejoined a large community called ADBZ which is a roleplaying site based on the popular anime Dragonball Z.

I have been rping a character named Raditz.

I enjoy working with the character a lot, as he is ALLOWING me to tell his story.

I can link some of the Raditz work later on.  But for now I made up a NEW character on Althanas which brings up my roster to a large number.  I have, currently, TEN active characters.  I have some of them more developed than others.  I get the urge to make a new character every so often, and my main two are levelled up quite a bit.  As you guys may remember, I rp a lot as my characters Elthas and Lorenor.  Elthas is now level 4, and on his way to level 5.  Lorenor is level 2 cause I recently restarted him.  He is already on his way to level 3.  Current max level on Althanas is like 20 range or so, they might increase it as people start hitting that range.  I have been in a positive mood of late, and writing lots.  Anyway here is a list of some of my collected works with Elthas and Lorenor:

~Alpha and Omega~

~I, Hunter~

~Chronicles~

~New Daggers~

~With Otto~  (Note: this thread scored VERY high in the judgment but unfortunately, was not given Judge's Choice status.  But I will be working harder from here on in to earn a few JC's.)

With Elthas, I have started a work called The Belthasar Chronicles.  Which will put together a collected adventures starring my character and his allies.  It is something I am doing for fun and to further develop my character's heroic adventures.  I have been working towards getting Elthas very high level and that is part of my main goal set with him now.  Once I get Elthas to level 15-range, hopefully he would have gotten powerful enough to be able to defend himself and his allies much better than he has been able to in the past.  Either way, I have also been working towards developing my character Lorenor.  I also rolled a new character who is meant to be a villain.  He is a Demon from the Althanas region called Haidia.

These are Lorenor's current threads for your reading pleasure:

~We Are Sinners~

~What is Justice?~

~Legacies~

So in all, aside from the ADBZ stuff that's the Althanas work I have been doing.  I will be posting my new character's works as I get it done.  That's all for now folks, sorry for the long silence.  I will be posting blogs with more frequency as I get these and other projects done~

As always,

The eve of my birthday...

So tomorrow, (May 05), I turn my big 35.  Normally, in the past, I would have not looked forward to this.  But as of recent developments in my life, 35 no longer sounds like a frightening prospect.  As I get older, I learn more about life, and about myself.  34 was a year of tremendous loss and also some personal gain.  Whereas my situation has not yet improved to the point I can get off S.S.I. (Social Security), I HAVE landed a few opportunities.  Some of them pulled through, but one is still in development.  I am currently working on a promising project that might be the big ticket I been waiting for.  All I want is a chance.  My end-goal of course, is to be able to take better care of my mom.  Eventually, I wanna produce enough of an income to pay the full rent where I live MYSELF and have some money left.  That's the true motivation.  In any event I have learned about betrayal, I have learned about priorities, and I have learned how to be a little more mature about matters in life in general.  I have also learned to be healthily selfish.  If people in your life are not on the same page as you, you may have to move on.  It's always a tough decision letting some people go, but I recently learn that your best friend can also become your worst enemy.  I hope nobody has to go through what I recently went through.  Anyway that's enough from me.  I hope that last year ultimately has proven productive to everybody around here, and that THIS year, (In terms of your birthdays) will be even more productive than ever.

As always.

Stay classy, world.

Current projects...(4/9/2013)

So on Althanas my character, Elthas Belthasar, finally hits level 1! I am currently going through the approval process in Realm of Greeting.  I had to make some minor cosmetic edits, but my requests were all approved.  Which is pretty cool cause usually you have to edit at last one or two updates.  Elthas is already on the way to level 2!!! I should be hitting that in due order as soon as more of my threads are completed.  Below I am going to be linking my current writings:

~Elthas Level 0~

~Elthas Level 1~

The level 0 link is my registration profile, and level 1 is my first update profile.  You get a certain amount of levels on Althanas and I intend to go all the way to the top.  My current projects that were completed are linked in my level 1 update.

I have also since updated my Deviant Art gallery.  Here is the link for that as well:

~Art Gallery~

I've uploaded a ton of new art for your viewing pleasure.  Do check it out, and if you have a DA account yourselves, please help me out with commentary and critiques.  Thank you very much.  I have started to draw regularly again and had a kick ass drawing session yesterday, which I will repeat today.  Drew for about 3+ hours or so.  I'm trying to get back in a solid drawing and writing routine.  I will be posting more art as I scan it for you guys to check out.

As always...

My Old Poems.

Sweetly seductive melancholia

By Pavel Creno Vargas

Through smoke and mirrors I can
See my reflection past the shadowy dark.
\The shadows represent my pain
The pain and loneliness which are apparent.
Apparent as the shadows which even now swirl
And whirl about my reflection.
\No emotions burn through those dark eyes
Which represent the very image of my soul.
My reflection never smiles.
\Yet it is MY reflection my reflection,
Which is ME.
\When the shadow looks back at me I can see,
That I was never happy because it never smiles.
\Does it?-Pavel Vargas

Why do innocent people suffer?

By Pavel Creno Vargas
It's been a long time since this pain struck me firstthe pain of other people suffering
the dark empathy of knowing the others emotions of knowing their suffering of knowing
their pain I was always their shoulder I always gave them a place in my dark heart
but when my pain came, who was there to hold my tears when they fell? I've given and
given people light, hope, and life, but when it came for time for me to me
who was there? I have my kindred who look out for me and u know who u are my dark souls
who forever protect this angel hiding from the light. When others suffer I embrace them
with a dark gift. A dark gift of eternal love.
But when I suffer am I to spend eternity in pain alone? Am I wrong to feel so isolated in
my darkness? But I know those dark kindred spirits care. And they are always watching
always waiting. My light in the dark tunnel.
Dedicated to Patricia Sunkes, my eternal
friend through the darkest trial and the
best moments. I have to wonder why do innocent people suffer?
And they wonder why I have turnedmy back on the light.
Because the darkness embraces me no matter what.

The Soldier Boy

By Pavel Creno Vargas

Never-ending is the gallantness which
He possesses.
\When he marches, he marches to the tunes of
The Drummers. The tunes of the trumpet, and The tunes of War.
\The Man is gallant, stars and stripe guide
The flight of his destiny.
\When adrelanine soars and bullets fly.
\You can be sure that he will be there,
To tread across enemy lines and frontiers.
\When he is there Soldier Boy lives, dies, And bleeds.
\He lives, dies and bleeds for the Star Spangled Banner.
\And the freedom of our nation forever and forever.
\Such is the eternal march of the Soldier Boy.
And God Bless America.

Circumventing The Sands of Time

By Pavel Creno Vargas
Across aeons doth mine atma see the future.
\An apocalypse I attempt to prevent.
\Mine Third Eye feels the foreboding future.
\The sands of time course dryly through mine veins.
\Choke do I from these maddening visions of destruction.
\Twisted visions of living machinery do become our foe.
\Our own children that we've spawned spring up against
\us.
\As one species to the constructs the next machine is
\Made in our image.
\The robotic constructs of our own designs usurp control
\From humanity.
\Though the leaders of men struggle to maintain the iron
\Grip upon Gaia the outcome is already foretold.
\For I am the prophet of destruction.
\Only mine third eye does see this impending doom.

These are my own works.  Please enjoy.

2013 First Blog.

Am I Dreaming?
Urchins

This is the current Althanas project I am working on finishing up.  It is basically almost done, I am going for about twenty posts give or take.  I am currently at 15 posts range, I just need to crunch out a little bit more in order to finish.  I am also working on a battle with Elthas as well.  It is with my friend Hysteria, who is also a really good writer.  I also fixed up my WIKI page for Elthas, and I am planning on making a WIKI page for Lorenor as well.  In related news, I am starting an art project for Althanas which will consist of me attempting to create a visual codex for Althanas.  I am gonna attempt to create renditions of several of the site's infamous settings.  Will be a good perspective study of course.  That's pretty much all I got going for the time being.  Please enjoy my works.

I'll be posting up tons of new art relatively soon!

Old Gods and New Streets

Elthas WIKI

Althanas 3.1

The Oath (Level 0)

These are my current projects for Althanas 3.1.  Althanas is a roleplaying community that has been around for over 10 years now.  I have been one of it's veteran members for a long time now.  I have several registered characters on there, but the character I am working on for now is Elthas.  Elthas's WIKI page is linked in the above text.  I will link the character sheet as well.

Here is some of the art I have been working on.

This character is named Janos.  He is an original character made up by a good buddy.  I approached this art style somewhat similar to Frank Miller's style with some degree of success.  I'm trying to work on simplification of late, so pardon me if it still looks a bit off.  The basic anatomy is top form though, at least I believe so.

My other friend wanted me to do a Samurai like character.  This was a real challenge to nail because I rarely draw Asian folk.  Like actual Asian folk and not manga-ka style.  I tried to approach this drawing in a more realistic sense and it came out fairly decent, I actually did the drawing pretty quickly one night.  Mushito is my friend's character and all rights are due him.

This is my infamous character Creno Valours.  I have used him in several roleplaying settings including Althanas.  I will link his character sheet shortly.  I made up the original race Saenorakym Prime and it is my intellectual property unless someone wants to offer me millions for it.  I will link the appropriate links in the text below this.

~The Saenorakym Prime~

~Creno Valour~ (Level 0)

That's about it for now.  Please enjoy this quick update.  I am gonna start posting more art as I scan it, I have been doing lots of studies.  Including studying on manga-ka.  Hopefully you guys will enjoy that work when I post it as you have enjoyed my last few pieces.

Love and Light,

All over the web...It's the hap's...

Okay gang, I have been busy over the recent months since my  last blog.  On Althanas, I have recently hit the grand level of 10.  They have recently updated the site to version 3.0 which is quite an interesting endeavor.  I have my views on 3.0 but since I have been giving it a chance, -some- of my viewpoints have changed.  Extensively, my main complaints come from certain of the Realm of Greetings changes that have taken place.  Some for the good, others for the bad.  For the good, lowbies can now make considerably more powerful characters.  This is a crucial amendment to the original Realm of Greetings rules that called for a stricter control and regulation of lower-level characters.

Now you have an entire generation of Althanians coming on board with much more solidified characters that can just DO more interesting things.  I know that when some of my own lowbies hit level 1, I drastically redid some of them.  (For example, my character, Alberdyne Cormyr.)  Many of my other character(s) are getting ready to hit level 1.   I've been pondering an EBlogger update for sometime, but I didn't think I had much of interest to write about, then the thought hit me: why not start an Althanas blog? I know that Althanas podcasts exists, but so far I have not yet seen an Althanas-based blog.  Maybe some exist, but I have never actually seen one.  So this is MY contribution to the Althanas community.  3.0 changes have now been implemented for better or worse, and it's like I still don't know how I feel about them.

I personally LIKE the lowbie rules.  I think those can stay.  But micromanaging higher level character(s) (I.E. level 6-7+) has become an unspoken necessity.  Certain folk have created character(s) (In the high-level range) that have become abusive to the system.  I think that a regulation is necessary to even things out.  (At level 10 I was forced to take a serious nerf to my character) As long as it's done across the board.  That is my main concern with the new ROG rules.  The rubric changes are fine, it's just that they've NEVER been the problem.  The problem has always been some character(s) coming into R.O.G. and taking sometimes heavy nerfs to their profiles.

Anyway, I'm not a moderator so my opinion really does not matter too much.  However, I just feel the need to post it so that people will know what I've been thinking about all along.  Some of you know, I temporarily retired Lorenor.  I thought it was going to be a permanent retirement, but I was convinced (Thank you Tony and others!!!) to continue using my character.  So I brought Lorenor back.  At level 11, he will receive a MAJOR overhaul.  But that's just my major idea I have about my character.  You guys will see it soon enough.

****

Valucre-I have been getting things moving on here.  I have earned a GM (Game Master/Quest Master/Story Teller spot whatever you wanna call it) and I have been cracken on duties.  I have joined a guild called Dictum Veritas and I have been superbly active with them.  I have several crucial threads going on, including several cannon (Lore) affecting threads.  In my next blog, I will post links to my currently active threads and their progress.  Along with descriptions of the stories.  In my next blog, I will also be posting newer artwork fro the world to see!!!!

Pages of the Grimoire

This is an early Sketch I did of a typical Amazonian figure.  In my universe I tend to visualize an archetypal Amazon and an archetypal Warrior figure.  Both figures are very muscular and physically fit as I enjoy to showcase the many intricacies of the human body.  I have a lot of fun sketching these, but the second figure's basic proportions is way off compared to the first.  The movement in the first figure makes it appear somewhat more dynamic.  Enjoy.  More of these to come.

Katya Ounce is copyright Mav.  All rights are belonging to him.  I am simply drawing her in my own style.  Katya Ounce is part of a unique race that Mav made up which appears often in RPHaven, a role-playing community.  I was tasked with the particular mission of drawing his character in my own unique style.  I hope you guys enjoy it.  Note, the drawing is done in basic one-point perspective.

Lorenor is an original Character that I made up for use with the role-playing community known as Althanas.  He is a ghoul.  Within his bloodstream is a techno-virus that was engineered through a freak incident.  When Lorenor bites people the techno-virus spreads at an alarming rate and constructs new mutants that can, in turn, further spread Infection.

This is a typical Warrior type that might appear in my Warriors of Purgatory project.  Note, I am still learning my basic muscle groups so bare with me as I continue my studies.  I tend to draw more accurate figures when I draw smaller size.  Larger size is still a bit difficult to visualize effectively but I am learning.

This is a free-hand proportion set up.  I have the three basic views on the bottom, Posterior, Anterior, and Lateral.  On the top, I have a basic Warrior holding some sword of dual-blade combination.  The head drawing is looking somewhat upward.  I still gotta work on my head studies more often.  Anyway gang, I hope you enjoy these first few posts.
